Guinness World Records has confirmed Xu Yang’s PROWESS-V3 as the fastest remote-controlled micro quadcopter, at 500.01 km/h. The craft weighs under 246 grams, and reaching that speed took a battery heated to exactly 50°C and a 0.25mm-nozzle-printed airframe.

A July ban on foreign-made advanced robots covers the automated guided vehicles that move materials inside Intel’s fabs. Intel says no domestic replacement meets its standards, that swapping them would take years, and that maintenance poses no cybersecurity risk.

The Airscope, built by Tsinghua and PLA General Hospital teams and published in Nature, uses four aspheric lenses to reach single-cell resolution across a 6-mm field of view — recording 25 times as many neurons as comparable devices, with no cables attached.

A game company mistakenly over-refunded 33,627 yuan to a parent; she refused to return it and submitted an AI-synthesised call recording to claim the debt was waived. The court ruled it unjust enrichment, ordered repayment and reprimanded her for forging evidence.

HUMXN subsidises plumbing, electrical and HVAC work for homeowners who let camera-wearing technicians record the job. The company argues the next generation of robots needs real-world data that scraping the internet cannot provide.

The generative system, built by teams from the University of Washington, Oxford and Nvidia, designs proteins at the level of individual atoms. In tests it beat its predecessor at 37 of 41 enzyme sites and ran about ten times faster; the designs worked in real reactions.

China’s AI toy market reached 29 billion yuan in 2025, with Taobao sales up more than 1,600%. But investment is cooling: products are highly similar and the return rate has stayed above 50%, leaving many devices gathering dust.

In a trial of 192 patients under general anaesthesia, half wore soundproof earmuffs and had notably less nausea and vomiting. The finding supports the idea that the brain still processes sound during anaesthesia — though why earmuffs help is still a hypothesis.

The shower, caused by dust from Halley’s Comet, reaches a zenithal hourly rate of about 20 under ideal skies. This year an 80%-lit waxing gibbous Moon will wash out fainter meteors, so the best window is the hours before dawn on 22 October, after moonset.

The ensemble forecasting system, trained on a 100,000-card supercomputing cluster in Tianjin, is China’s first operational weather AI with fully domestic data, models and compute. On several metrics it beats the ECMWF’s latest AI ensemble system.
