Ubisoft has renamed its Creative House 2 division Massive Entertainment, bringing teams in Montreal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto under one brand responsible for The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell.

October 1 (IT Home) — On 30 September local time, Ubisoft announced that its development division Creative House 2 has been officially renamed Massive Entertainment, with a new brand logo.

The division will bring together the relevant development teams in Montreal, Canada; Paris, France; Sweden; and Toronto, Canada.

The change is part of the new organisational structure Ubisoft has been rolling out this year. The company previously split its development teams into five “creative houses,” organised by game genre and by the brands they are responsible for, in order to strengthen the autonomy of development teams and collaboration between them.

After the rename, Massive Entertainment will be responsible for franchises such as Tom Clancy’s The Division, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell, and will also take in the new IP March of Giants. The development teams for these games will work under the unified Massive Entertainment brand, but the division still belongs to Ubisoft, and publishing and distribution remain with Ubisoft.

As IT Home understands it, the name Massive Entertainment comes from Ubisoft’s studio in Malmö, Sweden. That studio was founded in 1997 and was acquired by Ubisoft in 2008. After this change, the relevant teams previously spread across different regions will be brought together under this single brand.

In July this year, Christoph Hartmann, formerly an executive at 2K Games, joined Ubisoft as general manager of Creative House 2, responsible for the strategic direction and development of the relevant studios and game brands.

Hartmann said that placing the teams in Montreal, Paris, Sweden and Toronto under one brand would help integrate creative and technical capabilities from different regions, and would continue the development of the related franchises as well as new games and new IP.

Ubisoft had previously named its first creative house — responsible for Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six — Vantage Studios, which began operating officially in October 2025.

With Creative House 2’s renaming, some of Ubisoft’s five creative houses are beginning to adopt formal brand names. The company has so far clearly settled on the names Vantage Studios and Massive Entertainment; the remaining creative houses are still presented by number or by their established positioning.
